About the Role
You will be responsible for providing chair-side assistance to the Dentist/Dental Specialist/Hygienist in the delivery of dental services to patients. You will also assist with administrative tasks such as entering/updating patient records as well as other duties as required by the Dentist including promotion of oral health to patients and maintaining optimal hygiene of the surgery.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Certificate III in Dental Assisting or nationally recognised equivalent qualification.
- Minimum of 2 years (full time equivalent) experience within the last 5 years.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support the delivery of safe, efficient and high-quality care to patients within a dental surgery.
- The ability to commit to one assignment every three months (a minimum of 2 weeks full time per assignment).
- A current Australian Citizenship in order to obtain an AGSVA baseline security clearance as a requirement of the role.

About You
As a Dental Assistant, you’ll be a vital part of the health force behind Australia’s Defence Force—supporting the delivery of safe, high-quality oral health care to Defence personnel. Working alongside Dentists, Dental Specialists, and Dental Hygienists, you’ll provide expert chairside assistance, promote oral health, and implement gold-standard infection prevention and control protocols. You’ll also manage clinical records, maintain surgery hygiene and equipment, and contribute to ongoing quality improvement, audits, and accreditation activities. With strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach, you’ll thrive in a dynamic, team-based environment committed to excellence in patient care. This is a unique opportunity to gain experience across varied clinical settings while making a real impact in a national healthcare mission.
