About You

As a Sweeper/Waste Operator, you will thrive in a hands on, physical work environment. You are a team player who has the ability to interact and communicate with a variety of people from the general public to senior management.

About the Role

This is a hands-on position that requires presence, professionalism, knowledge and a strict adherence to City of Melbourne and Serco expectations in relation to waste management and cleansing within Melbourne’s high profile and highly used Open Space network.

As a Sweeper/Waste Operator you will be required to service general waste and recycling bins utilising a Rear Lift Compactor Truck and/or side lift utility vehicle, undertake basic cleaning and maintenance to waste management infrastructure as required, utilise hand tools and blowers to maintain paths and hardstand areas in a clean and safe condition for public use and undertake any other duties as directed.

 

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Current Light/Medium Rigid Drivers Licence
  • Experience in the use and maintenance of rubbish compactors (rear lift), parks and gardens waste management experience and/or litter collection experience is preferable.
  • Ability to work unsupervised.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

 

This is a position of trust and responsibility and to support this we will conduct a thorough probity assessment, which includes a Federal police check as an essential selection component for this role.
