ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking an experienced Enrolled Nurse to join our team at Darwin Health Centre in Winnellie, NT.
In this role, you will provide comprehensive outpatient and inpatient care, as well as health promotion services under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. You will be responsible for administering treatments, managing patient care according to protocols, and contributing to both clinical and administrative activities within the healthcare environment.
• Administer medications via approved routes, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Liaise with the Registered Nurse on Duty to ensure appropriate patient treatment and care plans.
• Adhere to the JHC Clinical Governance Framework and participate in clinical governance activities, including clinical and peer reviews as directed by the Commonwealth.
• Assist with the escort of ADF members between health facilities, both on-base and off-base, ensuring safe and efficient transport.
• Manage patient care in accordance with approved protocols and treatment guidelines.
• Manage patient clinical records, including the filing of hard copy reports and the booking and recall of patients.
• Oversee relevant patient clinics (e.g., pre-admission clinics and vaccination clinics), ensuring smooth operations and quality care.
• Participate in governance and quality improvement activities, including clinical reviews, health surveillance, and auditing.
• Order and maintain clinical stores and pharmaceutical supplies, ensuring all inventory is up to date.
• Perform regular checks, calibration, and maintenance of clinical equipment, including reporting and managing maintenance requests.
• Participate in fact-finding activities related to patient care and operational improvements.
• Implement, monitor, and maintain administrative policies, procedures, and instructions in accordance with health centre standards.
AS THE IDEAL APPLICANT, YOU WILL HAVE:
• A current, unconditional, and unrestricted registration as an Enrolled Nurse (Division 2) with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
• A minimum of 2 years’ full-time post-registration nursing experience within the last 5 years in an acute care, primary healthcare, or military setting.
• Recent participation in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities in line with AHPRA standards.
• A current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (HLTAID009) certification.
• Australian Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline Defence security clearance.
ABOUT THE LOCATION
The Darwin Health Centre is located at RAAF Base Darwin, just 6.5 km north-east of the city and shares a runway with Darwin International Airport. The base plays a critical role in major military exercises held annually in the Northern Territory, supporting both Australian and International Defence members. The health centre provides general nursing, mental health support, physiotherapy, and pharmaceutical services to both regular and surge personnel.
Operating Hours: Monday – Thursday: 0730 – 1600 (role-dependent); Friday: 0730 – 1330 (half-day)
