About The Role
As a Dental Assistant, you'll play a vital role in providing chair-side assistance to our Dentist, Dental Specialist, or Hygienist during the delivery of dental services to our valued patients.
Your responsibilities encompass a diverse range of tasks aimed at ensuring smooth operations within the dental practice while upholding the highest standards of patient care.
- Provide chair-side assistance to the dental practitioner during dental procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety at all times.
- Perform administrative tasks including accurately entering and updating patient records, scheduling appointments, and assisting with other duties as delegated by the Dentist.
- Actively promote oral health education to patients, advocating for optimal hygiene practices and preventive care measures.
- Support the dental team in various activities, maintaining compliance with all relevant standards, regulations, and procedures.
- Contribute to the cleanliness and sterilization of dental instruments and equipment, adhering to infection control protocols to ensure a hygienic environment.
- Collaborate effectively within a multi-disciplinary team, fostering a supportive and cohesive work environment to deliver the highest standard of care to our patients.
Location
Stirling Health Centre is located approximately 45km South of Perth on Garden Island, HMAS Stirling provides operational and logistics support to the RAN ships, submarines and aircraft based in WA. The base is home to RAN Submarine Training & Systems Centre, Training Centre West complex, Defence Communications Station Perth, and is a trials/research & support facility. Health Centre services include primary medical, underwater medicine, nursing, mental health, physiotherapy, dental and pharmaceutical services. Standard operating hours are generally 07:30 – 15:30 Monday – Friday (depending on role requirements).
About You
As the ideal applicant you will have:
- At least 2 years' full-time experience in a dental assisting role within the last 5 years.
- Recent engagement in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities to stay updated with industry standards and best practices.
- Current certifications in First Aid (HLTAID011) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (HLTAID009), ensuring preparedness for emergency situations.
- Possession of a Certificate III in Dental Assisting or equivalent nationally recognized qualification, demonstrating proficiency in dental assisting duties.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to the delivery of safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care within a dental surgery setting.
- Australian Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline Defence security clearance.
