About the Opportunity

The health services at Clarence has 3 modern health centres that delivers appropriate standards of health care to approximately 1700 inmates from diverse backgrounds and cultures.

You will provide primary care based on a patient-centred model allowing patients to actively participate in their health management. The team works closely with correctional staff to deliver holistic and integrated patient-centred health services that:

  • Provide primary, acute and emergency care based on a patient-centred model allowing custodial patients to actively participate in their health management 
  • Deliver holistic and integrated patient-centred health services that treat and prevent communicable disease, and proactively treat chronic disease 
  • Assist patients with reintegration back into the community

What you’ll be doing 

  • Gather information that contributes to the prisoner assessment process
  • Administer medications by approved routes, in accordance with legislative requirements under the direct and indirect supervision of a Registered Nurse
  • Undertake dressings, Blood Glucose Level monitoring and other clinical interventions in line with scope of practice
  • Liaise with the Registered Nurse(s) on duty in relation to patient treatment

About you - your ideal skills & experience 

  • Current registration as an Enrolled Nurse (Division 2), with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Minimum of 1-year full-time post graduate experience (or part-time equivalent)
  • Experience in primary health, rural health or emergency nursing (desirable)
