General Manager - People
At Schnitz Group, we're on an exciting growth journey, with 80+ restaurants today and ambitious plans to grow beyond 200 locations across multiple brands and markets. We're looking for a General Manager - People to help shape the future of our business.
Reporting to the CEO and sitting on the Senior Leadership Team, you'll lead our end-to-end People function across talent acquisition, learning and development, people operations, employee relations, payroll and compliance. Partnering closely with leaders across the business, you'll build capability, strengthen culture and develop the people strategies that support our continued growth.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead and evolve the People strategy to support Schnitz Groups continued growth across multiple brands.
- Champion a values-led, high-performance culture that drives engagement, accountability and business success.
- Partner with the CEO and Senior Leadership Team to shape organisational capability and support strategic business outcomes.
- Lead leadership development and capability initiatives that empower leaders across our restaurants and Support Office.
- Oversee the end-to-end People function, including HR operations, payroll, employee relations, compliance and workplace policies.
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation, industrial relations, awards and franchise obligations, while proactively managing risk.
- Drive continuous improvement across People systems, processes and technology to enhance the employee experience and operational efficiency.
- Develop and implement people policies, frameworks and initiatives that support a growing, multi-site franchise network.
- Coach and support leaders in performance management, employee relations, organisational change and leadership best practice.
- Lead organisational change and people initiatives that strengthen culture and support the continued growth of the business.
- Oversee remuneration, performance review and recognition frameworks that align with business objectives.
- Build and develop a high-performing People team, fostering collaboration, capability and continuous improvement.
About You
You'll be an experienced People executive who thrives in fast-paced, high-growth environments and enjoys balancing strategic thinking with hands-on leadership.
Ideally, you'll bring:
- Proven experience as a General Manager or Head of People, People & Culture or Human Resources.
- Experience leading the People function within a multi-site, franchise, hospitality, retail or similar environment.
- A strong track record of building high-performing teams, leading organisational change and improving the employee experience.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence executives and partner with leaders across the business.
- Strong knowledge of Australian employment legislation, industrial relations and compliance, ideally within a franchise environment.
- Experience across talent acquisition, organisational development, learning & development, remuneration, payroll and HR operations.
- A collaborative leadership style with the ability to coach, influence and build capability at all levels.
- Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Organisational Psychology or a related discipline. Postgraduate qualifications will be highly regarded.
