About Ruah

Ruah is a leading values-driven employer in Western Australia’s community services sector. Our staff go boldly, not just supporting people in need, but working to end homelessness, end domestic violence and create opportunities for people struggling with poverty and mental health challenges.

Our professional team of operational and corporate services staff is backed by one of WA’s biggest Peer support workforces. Our staff reflect our commitment to diversity and inclusion, where difference is valued, celebrated and embraced.

By choosing to work with us, you are helping transform the lives of vulnerable and disadvantaged people in our community.

About the Role

Ruah is seeking an experienced and passionate Voice and Inclusion Specialist to lead and coordinate our approach to client and employee voice, inclusion and equitable practice across the organisation.

Reporting to the Executive Manager Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, this role will provide strategic leadership to ensure the voices and experiences of people facing marginalisation are embedded in service design, workforce practices, policy development and organisational decision-making.

A key focus of the role is leading the implementation and continuous improvement of Ruah's LGBTIQA+SB Inclusion Strategy, while strengthening outcomes for diverse communities across our services. Working collaboratively with leaders, staff, clients and community stakeholders, you will help shape a more inclusive organisation where people feel safe, valued and heard.

This is a unique opportunity to influence organisational strategy, drive meaningful change and make a lasting impact on how services are designed and delivered for vulnerable and underrepresented communities.

This is a full-time permanent position based in Perth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of Ruah's Voice and Inclusion Framework.
  • Drive organisation-wide initiatives that strengthen inclusion, accessibility and culturally safe practice.
  • Lead the implementation and evaluation of Ruah's LGBTIQA+SB Inclusion Strategy and Action Plan.
  • Ensure client and employee voice and lived experience are embedded in service design, evaluation and continuous improvement activities.
  • Provide strategic advice and recommendations to senior leaders on inclusion, equity, belonging and organisational culture.
  • Develop and review policies, frameworks and resources that support inclusive practice across the organisation.
  • Design, facilitate and coordinate training and capability-building initiatives for leaders and staff.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with community organisations, advocacy groups and sector stakeholders.
  • Coordinate advisory groups, employee networks and consumer engagement opportunities.
  • Monitor organisational progress and prepare reports, briefings and recommendations for senior leadership.

What we're looking for

The successful applicant will be required to meet the following criteria:

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Community Development, Social Sciences or a related discipline.
  • Minimum five years' experience in inclusion, community development, social policy, organisational development, human services or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience leading projects and influencing organisational change.
  • Deep understanding of the experiences of LGBTIQA+ communities and barriers to accessing services.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including experience developing policies, frameworks and strategic documents.
  • Proven ability to build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience developing, facilitating and evaluating training, education and capability-building initiatives.
  • Demonstrated understanding of issues facing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to Ruah's vision, mission and values.

The following criteria are considered desirable:

  • Lived experience as a person who identifies as LGBTIQA+SB.
  • Qualifications in Project Management.
  • Experience driving diversity, inclusion or organisational development initiatives.
