About the Role

We are seeking three Casual Support Workers to join our Geraldton casual pool and work across our mental health services.

As a Support Worker, you will provide person-centred, recovery-oriented support to people experiencing mental health challenges. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will assist clients to build independence, improve wellbeing, strengthen community connections and achieve their individual goals.

The role includes providing one-on-one support, assisting with daily living activities, supporting community participation, accompanying clients to appointments, maintaining client records and contributing to positive outcomes through a trauma-informed and strengths-based approach.

What we're looking for

The successful applicant will be required to meet the following criteria:

• Completion of, or progress towards, a relevant qualification (Certificate II/III) and/or relevant work experience and/or lived experience
• Ability to engage with individuals with varying levels of need and build and maintain professional relationships
• Ability to work independently and contribute positively to a team environment
• Ability to model positive behaviours, emotional maturity, coping skills and resilience
• Good interpersonal and effective communication skills
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and client reporting systems
• Willingness and ability to work within and contribute to Ruah's vision, mission, values and guiding principles
• Knowledge and understanding of diversity, gender and social inclusion, particularly Aboriginal culture

The following criteria are considered desirable:

• Experience working in community services, mental health or other human services settings.
• Understanding of recovery-oriented and trauma-informed practice.
• Experience supporting people with complex needs.
