About the Role
- The role will work collaboratively with both the Karlup Service team and Enhanced Services team to directly support clients living with disability to navigate services within Ruah and the community.
- The Enhanced Services team provides integrated and specialised support across all of Ruah’s Services including Family and Domestic Violence, Housing and Homelessness, and Mental Health and Wellness.
- Reporting to the Team Lead of Karlup Offerings, the Disability Liaison will work across both Karlup and Enhanced Services teams ensuring ease of access to services offered within Ruah.
- The Disability Liaison will work to support clients to navigate systems and assist with active referrals to external agencies.
It is expected that the successful applicant will be able to demonstrate the following:
Essential
- Substantial experience in a similar role within the disability support sector, including demonstrated knowledge of disability related support services within the community.
- Demonstrated understanding of the intersection between disability and FDV, Homelessness and Mental Health.
- Capability to work effectively with a trauma and culturally informed model of service delivery.
- Ability to work using a person-centered approach and understanding of person-centered principles.
- Ability to work independently with a high level of reliability and contribute to the functioning of the team.
- Effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Understanding of computer skills including Microsoft Office and client reporting system.
Desirable
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of diversity and social inclusion- including gender, sexuality, disability, cultural, age, and linguistic diversity and Aboriginal culture.
- Previous experience in working effectively with women who have experienced family and domestic violence and a sound understanding of the dynamics of family and domestic violence and the social and cultural context in which it occurs.
