About the Role

The Karlup Service offers a seamless spectrum of offerings which women and children can engage with as they need, when they need it, and for as long as they need it to help foster their own strength and resilience and recreate a future free from violence.  

The Service Lead will be a key member of the management team supporting the General Manager to provide leadership across the Karlup Service, ensuring the cultural and trauma informed delivery of an efficient and seamless end to end recovery service for women and children.  

The successful candidate will advocate on behalf of clients served by your team within senior and executive level decision making forums. This role is responsible in shaping the strategic direction of the Karlup Service.  

The role requires coaching and mentoring of your direct reports to ensure agreed outcomes and performance indicators are achieved within the resources available. 

The successful candidate will be expected to apply personal drive, professional experience and exemplary conduct to build and sustain a high performing team that effectively responds to client needs, in line with the Karlup Service model of care.  

This is a full-time permanent position, working 38 hours per week between Monday to Friday, as well as participation on the on-call roster as well.

What we’re looking for

The successful applicants will be required to meet the following criteria:

  • Experience in providing inspirational leadership within the health/ community/ not for Profit sector.
  • Relevant qualifications in a related discipline at degree, diploma or certificate level (e.g. Social Work or Psychology) and/or significant work experience with family and domestic violence.  
  • Significant understanding of, and commitment to the Purpose, Vision and Values of Ruah.
  • An understanding of the political environment and current issues affecting the health and welfare system.
  • Knowledge and expertise in current and emerging issues of family and domestic violence. 
  • Experience in reflective leadership practice and the management of teams and a diverse range of staff. 
  • Knowledge and understanding of diversity and social inclusion including gender, sexuality, disability, age, cultural and linguistic diversity and Aboriginal culture.  
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with staff and stakeholders and ensure strong community sector engagement.  
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with ability to influence at the highest level. Confident public speaking and presentation style.

  • A salary aligned with Level 7 of the Ruah Enterprise Agreement (and the SCHADS Award), starting at $119,745.
