Inspired by the region's natural beauty and the Council's forward-thinking vision for the future. We are now looking for a reliable individual to join our team as a Playground Inspector.
What does a Playground Inspector do?
Reporting to the Team Manager, the Playground Inspector is responsible for carrying out the full range of programmed and responsive building works, as well as minor capital works needed to renew, upgrade, and maintain playgrounds, buildings and structures in parks, properties, and facilities. This role contributes to the vision of ‘Creating Exceptional Spaces and Experiences’ and ensures that public spaces are maintained with high-quality standards.
What we are looking for:
- You will possess a broad range of handyperson skills and preferably have previous maintenance experience
- Inspect, maintain, and repair playground equipment and surfaces to ensure safety and usability.
- Ensure general tidiness and rubbish collection within playground areas.
- General garden maintenance and public facilities cleaning when required.
- Manual labour, carpentry, joinery, concreting, and general construction work using hand tools, power tools, and machinery.
- Site preparation including barricading and signs and traffic management.
- Full class 1 driver’s licence is essential.
- Playground Inspection and Maintenance Course Level 2 and a minimum of 1 year’s playgrounds maintenance and inspection is preferred.
- This position does not require a pre-employment medical.
- This position does not require a MOJ check.

- 32 hours per week but additional hours can also be available based on operational demands
