Operations Manager

Green by Nature (formerly Recreational Services) is proud to be the chosen service provider for the Manawatū District Council, responsible for maintaining the beauty of the region's parks, playgrounds, and public spaces. As we bid farewell to our current Operations Manager, this transition opens the door for a new individual to take on this pivotal role. We are now seeking an Operations Manager to lead our mighty Manawatū team!

About The Role

Reporting to the Regional Manager, your role as Operations Manager will be vital in establishing ongoing operations that deliver and exceed the contract specifications and maintain enjoyable spaces for the community. With your team based in Feilding comprising of approximately 26 members, you will be responsible for delivering a diverse range of activities, including mowing, horticulture, response & project work, facilities, sexton duties, and biodiversity projects. With 9 years remaining on our Manawatu contract, we are looking for candidates who are enthusiastic about continuing the excellent work already established.

To excel in this role, you should be a confident leader with prior experience in the same or a similar industry and a proven track record of leading teams to success. You should be approachable, able to thrive in unexpected situations, and capable of making sound decisions to provide certainty and confidence to the team.

Key Requirements

• Strong skills in developing targets, maintaining budgets, and analysing operational initiatives, with a proven ability to manage projects within time and budget constraints.
• Strong written and computer skills, along with proficiency in report writing. You should be an effective communicator, capable of building strong relationships both internally and with external clients.
• Exceptional skills in recruitment, performance management, engagement, training, and development.
• A positive attitude towards working safely and a commitment to upholding our company's health and safety culture.
• A qualification in either Horticulture or Sports Turf Management would be advantageous.
• A full New Zealand driver's licence with the ability to drive a manual vehicle.
