What does a Response Operator do you ask?
To put it simply, our Response Operators are multi-skilled professionals who bring a broad range of talents to the table, tackling both scheduled and reactive tasks that keep public buildings and infrastructure in top condition. With your background in building, maintenance, or practical handy work, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Responding to daily callouts to repair council assets, such as setting up bollards, mending fences, fixing picnic tables, and installing park signs.
- Carrying out a wide range of building and infrastructure work, including manual labour, carpentry, joinery, concreting, and general construction using hand tools, power tools, and machinery.
- Conducting site assessments for minor infrastructure and building projects and preparing quotes for labour and materials.
- Contributing to landscaping, garden construction, and maintenance when needed.
- Supporting other contract teams with flexibility and a willingness to jump in and assist wherever needed.
What we're looking for:
Proven ability across a range of skillsets such as landscaping, concreting, maintenance, fence repairs along with:
- The ability to interpret building plans and skills in hard and soft landscaping, carpentry, concreting, and operating machinery.
- A current, full Class 1 driver’s licence with manual vehicle capability (essential).
- LBP certification would be highly desirable
- Basic experience in project management, including planning and effective client communication.
- Self-motivation and a strong work ethic, with the ability to work independently when needed - though for the big tasks, our team will be there to support you!
- Physical fitness, with the ability to manage occasional heavy lifting, kneeling etc.
- A commitment to completing all jobs to a high standard, as many people rely on us to keep things running smoothly.
