We have an opportunity for a skilled and experienced Handyperson to join our team on permanent, full-time basis. 

About the role: 

The Painter/Handy Person is responsible for effectively and efficiently delivering high quality maintenance tasks to service our infrastructure assets. This role includes some work outside normal business hours (on a rostered basis) as its part of our business contract and commitment to our clients. 

What you will be doing:

  • Painting internal and external building assets and external structures
  • Attend daily call outs to assess and repair council assets. These could range from programmed maintenance tasks to asset renewal works, upgrades and emergency call outs 
  • Application of skills and knowledge in areas of painter, manual labour and general construction, plastering, stain works using hand tools, power tools and machinery
  • Site preparation including barricading and signage

What you will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring painting and handyman/carpentry work is carried out to expected standards
  • Making an effective and positive contribution within our in-house team of builders, plumbers and electricians, estimator, and project managers to help us self-deliver building projects
  • Cost management, compliance and material purchasing
  • Stakeholder relationships between clients, the wider Green by Nature team, sub-contractors and suppliers
  • Maintain company property to the expected standard such as company vehicles and wider machinery fleet

Who we are looking for:

We are looking for an enthusiastic person who has worked in a general trades work role with a minimum of 3-5 years or more experience.

The ideal candidate will have: 

  • Relevant work experience, broad skills and certifications (ie: Site Safe and Working at Heights) to meet the job requirements of our handy person role 
  • An ability to identify repair requirements and act to solve problems to a high standard of workmanship and within expected timeframes
  • Experience operating work tools, equipment and machinery maintaining a safety conscious attitude for yourself and your teammates
  • Organisational skills and an eye for detail to ensure work is completed on time and to specification
  • Strong customer service and relationship orientation with good communication skills. This is a public facing role at times and you’ll be interacting with people out in the field as well as our clients representatives
