Do you enjoy working outdoors and take pride in your work? If so, this is the role for you! We are seeking a full time Horticulturist to join our Auckland team, on a permanent, full-time basis at a retirement village in Clevedon.

About The Role:

Reporting to the Team Manager and working closely alongside other individuals, you will be responsible for all aspects of gardening across our villages contract maintaining the grounds of the wider community. 

Your duties will include everything from, planting, weeding, pruning to blowing, spraying, weed eating, and general vegetation control tasks. You will ensure maintenance is top-notch, timely, and planned, while keeping things safe for the public, your team, and yourself.

  • Execute tasks to create gardens meeting client specifications, including following garden plans, sourcing necessary plants and materials, and planting according to the plants needs
  • Oversee the day-to-day operational aspects of designated site within the contract
  • Mentor and provide guidance to a trainee and other Gardeners, offering support and direction for a cohesive and efficient work environment
  • Maintain open communication with the Team Manager, promptly addressing and reporting any garden or planting issues
  • Prioritise safety, compliance, and quality management in all aspects of the garden-related activities

About You:

Our ideal candidate will hold a Level 4 National Certification in Horticulture, be GrowSafe certified and have at least 3 years of experience in a similar role. Other experience and skills we seek include:

  • A full driver’s license with manual driving capability
  • Demonstrating extensive knowledge of plant species and their maintenance requirements
  • Proficiency in accurately following and implementing gardening plans
  • Exhibiting strong interpersonal skills, capable of addressing public inquiries as you'll be based within the village
  • Displaying a proactive attitude, always ready to assist others efficiently
  • A desire to become a mentor and is keen to share your knowledge and support others
