Operations Manager

Green by Nature is proud to be one of the Auckland District's Council chosen service provider, responsible for maintaining the regions many parks, playgrounds, facilities and public spaces. We’re excitedly seeking a Horticulture Manager to lead our three teams; Horticulture, Pests & Plants and Playgrounds.

Role Overview:

Reporting to the Open Spaces Manager, you’ll play a key role in ensuring seamless operations that meet our contractual requirements and provide enjoyable spaces for the community. Leading a team of circa 50 members, you’ll oversee a wide range of tasks offering your support and guidance.

What We’re Looking For:

To be successful in this role, you’ll be a confident and approachable leader with experience in horticulture. You’ll be skilled at guiding teams through unexpected situations, making sound decisions to give your team certainty and clear direction. Additionally, you’ll bring:

• Financial expertise: A proven ability to set targets, manage budgets, and analyse operational initiatives, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
• Effective communication skills: Excellent written, verbal, and report-writing skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with both internal teams and external clients.
• Strong people management skills: Experience in recruitment, performance management, staff engagement, and training and development is crucial.
• Commitment to safety: A positive attitude towards health and safety, promoting our company’s strong safety culture.
• Full NZ driver’s licence: You must have the ability to drive a manual vehicle.
