About the Centre
Brunswick Baths is an iconic aquatic and leisure facility located within Merri-bek City Council, boasting a range of aquatic and leisure services across a dynamic range of facilities including aquatic recreation, learn to swim, fitness programs and more!
The YMCA has been engaged by Merri-Bek Council to work together to deliver the vision of an Active Merri-Bek for the entire Merri-Bek community. The YMCA’s work in partnership with Council extends to all corners of Merri-Bek however is based at the six Aquatic and Leisure Facilities. Additional to overseeing the management of Brunswick Baths the broader contract portfolio includes the management and operation of Coburg Leisure Centre, Coburg Outdoor Pool, Fawkner Leisure Centre, Pascoe Vale Outdoor Pool and Oak Park Leisure Centre.
About the Role
This role will present a fresh experience for a recreation professional to be the driving force behind an iconic recreation facility in Melbourne's inner North. This role needs a strong and experienced leader with a drive to continue fostering and developing Brunswick Baths ongoing success. The role presents a significant opportunity for the Centre Manager to make their mark and build an exceptional legacy in their leadership journey through this exciting opportunity.
As the Centre Manager you will be a key leader within the local community and provide leadership and vision for the general operations of Brunswick Baths, and play a broader role within both the YMCA and Council. You will lead a multitude of business units including Customer Experience, Aquatic Safety, Health & Wellness, Operations, Learn to Swim. You will be highly visible within the Centre and the local community, forming strong relationships and partnerships that add value to the business operations and ensure services meet the needs of our communities.

This position is being offered on a full-time basis with a total remunerationof $116,781.00 to $126,863.00 plus super and Y Befits.
About You
As Centre Manager, you will be a thoughtful and decisive leader, skilled in managing complex tasks while demonstrating patience, resilience, and strong organisational skills. You will be able to work both independently and as part of the leisure team.
- You will be able to represent the YMCA to the local community as well as provide exceptional leadership and vision for the facility and its staff.
- You have exceptional collaboration skills that allows you to lead and support the facilities broader leadership while having meaningful impact and influence across key strategic areas within a dynamic and fast paced environment.
- An excellent oral and written communicator, you will be able to work in partnership with the Active Merri-Bek team as well as other community groups to develop programs and services to meet the needs of the community.
- You will be self-motivated, able to engage staff and the community and will be able to drive the business, while maintaining the assets under their control.
- You will be organised and have a demonstrated ability to engage staff and improve business performance, with strong project management skills.
- You will be focused on the customer experience and cultivate a culture of continuous learning amongst the staff teams.
- You will have strong general business and financial acumen.
- You will foster a culture of safety at the facility and have experience managing risk
- Alignment with the YMCAs values is critical for this role.
Qualifications & Experience
Experience in a similar leadership role within the Sports & Recreation industry will be highly regarded but if you have significant team leadership and budget management experience from a different industry, we would love to hear from you.
- Tertiary qualifications in Sports Management, Business Management, or other related field will be highly regarded
- Previous strong leadership experience is essential
