About the Centre

Macleod Recreation and Fitness Centre is conveniently located at 157 Wungan Street, Macleod. It offers gym facilities that provide group fitness classes and personal training. Macleod also runs a variety of sport programs for children and adults (basketball, dance, martial arts, gymnastics), and offers birthday parties and school holiday programs for children. 

About the role

Here at Macleod Recreation and Fitness Cenre we are looking for motivated Teachers In Charge who can demonstrate problem solving and conflict negotiation. Display interest, enthusiasm, patience, respect and innovation to students and peers. Implement lesson plans that promote group teaching methods, combining stroke development with water safety. 

Responsibilities will include:

• Work within a team environment to ensure and assist with safe, timely and effective set up, lesson delivery and pack up.
• Ensure teachers are completing attendance and competency records and that class sheets are collated and returned at the end of each shift.
• Understands the unique needs of families and can respond appropriately.
• Frequently communicates, sharing information with parents related to children's experiences and YMCA program opportunities.
• Teaches and models effective problem solving and conflict negotiation.
• Challenges and develops young peoples values and attitudes in a supportive manner.

This is a part time position and the hourly rate is $32.34 + super + Y benefits. We have a number of class times and are looking to grow our program, so availability on weekends will be advantageous. 

About you

You will be a great communicator with a passion for inspiring and developing water safety and swimming skills in children and young people. Personal attributes such as patience, respect, and enthusiasm will take you far in this role.

• Demonstrate a passion and enthusiasm to teach children to swim
• Provide excellent customer service to parents and students alike
• Be motivated and committed to perform to a high standard
• Be friendly, polite and approachable at all times
• Display interest, enthusiasm, patience and respect to parents, children and peers

Essential Qualifications

• HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
• HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
• Intermediate Gymnastics Coach
• Gymnastics Supervisor

Strongly desired Quals

• Advanced Gymnastics Coach
