About the role

A Verbal Design Director is a key leader within our business. Highly respected for your craft, you have a proven ability to teach and inspire others, and are driven to push the potential of language as a key element of design.

A contributor across a number of accounts, you will lead a team of writers to work alongside strategists and designers in the development of naming, verbal identity and brand identity. The role supports the ECD and CD on briefs and projects.

As part of your role, you will take responsibility for continually innovating to create an inspiring and inclusive team environment, and deliver work of which the whole business can be proud.


What you’ll be doing

  • You play a key role in inspiring and directing creative work – the thinking, crafting and effectiveness
  • Lead the development of verbal identity as a key element of design from conceptualisation through to consultation, and deliver project based, brand work
  • Shape holistic brands for our clients by collaborating on the articulation of brand strategy, ensuring visual and verbal design elements work together
  • Develop and deliver best practice tools and training that embed effective brand writing and tone of voice
  • Mentor and manage the development of the writing team and creatives supporting you
  • Build relationships with key clients that align with the creative aspirations of the business
  • Take the initiative to raise the profile of Re by sharing our work and design ethos with the broader industry


Your skills and experience

  • You will show strong leadership. The ability to direct, delegate and foster a positive and collaborative team culture
  • Strong conceptual and writing skills. The ability to create beautifully crafted, ideas-led work
  • Strong presentation skills. The ability to effectively tell a story and sell your work, both visually and verbally.
  • Ideally, you will have 7+ years brand writing experience
  • You will show curiosity, a collaborative mindset and be a kind person
