About us

Queensland Hydro is a publicly owned entity established by the Queensland Government to design, deliver, operate and maintain long duration pumped hydro energy storage assets that will be the cornerstone for the transformation of the state’s energy system.

The organisation will drive delivery of world-class pumped hydro assets to provide the long-term storage and reliability needed to power Queensland’s clean energy future. The organisation will play a critical role in assisting the Queensland Government to meet its renewable energy targets and net zero emissions by 2050, supporting the shift in the Australian economy to a decarbonised energy system.

The Purpose

The purpose of the Group Support Officer is to help to coordinate and facilitate Queensland Hydro’s land and tenure function and across the broader Community and Environment team. It will support engagement with land stakeholders including landowners, cultural rights holders, tenants, share croppers business owners and employees of operations in project areas as well as Government agencies regulating the land, planning and environment and community infrastructure and services.

The role supports both the Borumba and Pioneer- Burdekin Pumped Hydro Energy Storage projects and any future Queensland Hydro activities.

The Role

The role requires collaboration across Queensland Hydro in particular the department functions within the areas of: Stakeholder & Communications, Environment, Land, Sustainability, Regional Development, and First Nations.

The role would suit both experienced people in major projects; and those seeking to learn new skills, however curiosity, attention to detail and taking ownership of delivery are key attributes.

Key Accountabilities include but not limited to,

  • Coordinate Cross-Functional Interfaces: Manage the interaction between the Community and Environment functions and other Queensland Hydro departments, including organizing meetings, taking minutes, and maintaining action registers. Initially, the focus will be on the Land and Tenure function, with potential shifts as business needs evolve.
  • Contract Review and Management: Review and verify contracts, and manage the production and upkeep of a contract obligations register.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records, including minutes, deeds, constitutions, and terms of reference, by establishing and managing document management systems.
  • Invoice Processing and Expense Reconciliation: Handle the invoicing process and reconcile expenses for the Communications, Stakeholder Engagement, and Environment Division.
  • Ad Hoc Support: Provide support for various tasks within the Land and Tenure sub-function as needed.
  • Travel and Coordination Assistance: Assist in managing Queensland Hydro’s personnel travel and industry coordination efforts.
  • Uphold QH Values: Live by Queensland Hydro’s values to enhance the organization's reputation with government and industry stakeholders across all activities.
  • Invoice Facilitation: Prepare, raise, and facilitate the payment of invoices efficiently.

 About you

It is essential that you have the following,

  • Graduate level qualifications in Business Administration, Law, Organisational Strategy, Public Policy, Project Management, Property or another relevant area or a lesser qualification coupled with significant applied experience in this field.

You will have proven experience within the following,

  • Demonstrated experience in a coordination or support role within a large organisation including utilities.
  • Knowledge of the energy and/or infrastructure sectors, preferably in Australia.
  • Understanding of the workings of public sector
  • Track record of building strong internal and external relationships
  • Strong attention to details and methodical approach to actioning tasks
  • Strong collaboration skills
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment with changing deadlines and priorities.
