The Marketing Manager role requires a creative and commercially astute marketing professional to develop, lead and execute marketing strategies for Tūroa Ski Area. Industry experience preferred but a passion for skiing or snowboarding and the mountain environment is a must.

This role is ideal for an experienced and Innovative marketer with 2-5 years of experience in digital marketing, brand management, and strategic communications. Responsible for driving brand awareness, customer engagement, and revenue growth.

Key Responsibilities

Marketing Strategy & Execution

  • Develop and implement integrated marketing strategies to drive visitor engagement, sales, and brand positioning.
  • Lead the creative development and production of media content (digital, print, social) to support campaigns, ensuring alignment with brand values and business objectives.
  • Manage advertising, sponsorship, and public relations initiatives to enhance brand presence.
  • Conduct market research, competitor analysis, and customer insights analysis to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with New Zealand advertising and consumer protection regulations.

Digital Marketing & Content

  • Oversee digital marketing campaigns, including SEO, SEM, social media, content marketing, and email marketing.
  • Lead brand storytelling efforts, ensuring consistent messaging across all platforms.
  • Manage and optimise the website, CRM systems, and online advertising platforms.
  • Monitor marketing performance using analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Meta Ads) and provide data-driven recommendations for improvement.

Campaigns, Events & Activations

  • Develop and execute integrated sales and marketing campaigns that align with business objectives and market trends.
  • Coordinate pop-up promotions, activations, industry and on snow events, ensuring alignment with broader campaign strategies.
  • Work closely with stakeholders, including senior leadership, to promote products and services across different market segments.

Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration

  • Collaborate with directors, senior leadership, and external partners to develop strategic marketing initiatives.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with media outlets, sponsors, and customers to enhance public image and brand credibility.
  • Support the development of partnerships and collaborations to expand market reach.
  • Provide insights on marketing strategies that integrate Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Māori business frameworks where relevant.

Brand & Business Development

  • Cultivate and enhance the resort’s brand identity, ensuring consistent messaging across all marketing channels and materials.
  • Monitor daily operations to ensure adherence to brand guidelines and industry best practices.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality and efficiency.
  • Generate regular reports on marketing performance metrics, using data analysis to inform strategic decisions. 

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead and inspire the seasonal marketing team, fostering a collaborative and highperformance work culture.
  • Conduct recruitment, training and coaching to develop staff capabilities.
  • Ensure required tools are readily available to team members, including rosters and budgetary guidelines to enable success.
  • Work with the Health & Safety Manager and other head of departments to ensure workplace safety and compliance, particularly for on-snow activity
  • Build and maintain external relationships to ensure delivery of organisational goals.

Budget & Financial Management

  • Prepare and oversee the marketing budget, ensuring alignment with financial goals.
  • Track and monitor marketing expenses, ensuring cost-effective strategies without compromising impact.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business or other related field.
  • Proven expertise in digital marketing, brand management, and content strategy.
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience in marketing performance tracking and optimisation.
  • Proficiency in marketing tools and platforms (e.g., Google Analytics, Meta Ads, CRM software, Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Understanding of New Zealand consumer trends and tourism marketing.
  • Experience in leading and managing a team.
  • Holds and maintains a full New Zealand Driver’s license.
