The role covers statutory, strategic and operational domains, including financial reporting, cashflow management, board engagement, procurement oversight, and the seasonal ramp-up of payroll. It supports the CEO and Board with accurate, timely insights while maintaining full compliance with NZ IFRS Tier 2 and Companies Act 1993 requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Board Reporting
· Lead preparation of monthly financial board reporting packs using Xero and Fathom.
· Deliver variance analysis, operational cost control, and scenario-based forecasting.
· Drive capital planning insights to support infrastructure investments.
· Maintain visibility on liquidity, debt servicing, and treasury control.
· Support the CEO with financial elements of growth planning and sales strategies.
Financial Management & Controls
· Establish robust internal financial systems and processes to meet business requirements.
· Manage day-to-day finance operations including cashflow, GL integrity, and AP/AR.
· Manage relationship with external accountants (Balance CA) for monthly reconciliation reviews, annual NZ IFRS Tier 2 accounts, and IRD returns.
· Maintain fixed asset registers and support long-term depreciation planning.
· Maintain full oversight of procurement processes across the operational and commercial functions and assist in the management of suppliers throughout the supply chain.
Payroll & Workforce Support
· Oversee the preparation and approval of payroll (seasonally this may be up to 200 employees) utilising Humanforce Workforce Management (WFM) software, in conjunction with the Corporate Administrator.
· Ensure accurate reporting of leave, PAYE, deductions, and holiday entitlements.
· Conduct labour-to-revenue analysis to inform workforce planning for winter.
Compliance & Audit
· Ensure compliance with IRD (GST, PAYE, income tax), Companies Office, and audit requirements.
· Liaise with internal and external auditors to meet governance reporting expectations.
· Maintain documentation and internal controls for audit readiness via Google Drive.
Procurement & Commercial Analysis
· Lead strategic procurement planning and cost benefit analysis for key suppliers.
· Support partnership and sponsorship acquisition through financial modelling.
· Manage financial elements of concession obligations, insurance, and DoC reporting.
Experience & Qualifications
· Chartered Accountants ANZ qualification (or equivalent) is essential.
· Minimum 5 years in financial leadership or senior finance roles.
· Experienced and successful leader of people.
· Highly competent in the use of accounting software solutions. e.g. Xero Advanced, Humanforce WFM, and Fathom Reporting.
· Experience in tourism, seasonal workforce environments, or asset-heavy industries preferred.
· Demonstrated ability to manage compliance frameworks and support board-level decision making.
· Holds and maintains a full New Zealand Driver’s license.
