We’re looking for a dedicated Field Trade Coach to help grow technical capability across our field teams, system control and contractors. If you’re passionate about developing people, promoting safe work practices, and strengthening industry skill standards, this role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact while working from one of our depot locations across the region.[RR1] You don’t need prior coaching experience — if you come from a trade background and want to develop others, we’ll support you every step of the way.
This role reports to the Training Team Leader and is part of the wider People, Safety & Communications team, working collaboratively to support consistent, high‑quality training across the organisation.

About the Role
As a Field Trade Coach, you’ll play a central role in building the capability of our field crews. Your work will be predominantly in the field, delivering practical training, mentoring, and competency assessments directly where the work happens. You’ll collaborate with operational leaders to identify development needs, maintain best‑practice technical standards, and support improvements to training materials and processes. Your day‑to‑day focus will be on working closely with people, helping them grow, perform confidently, and most importantly to work safely.
What You’ll Bring
- NZ Electricity Supply Industry (ESI) Level 4 qualification, or Registered Line Mechanic / Cable Jointer / Electrician with ESI experience
- 5+ years’ experience in the electricity supply industry
- Strong understanding of distribution systems and network equipment
- Excellent communication and coaching skills
- A commitment to safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement
