PowerNet is looking for a Senior IT Systems Engineer to play a key role in supporting and enhancing our critical IT infrastructure across the organisation.

About the Role

As our Senior IT Systems Engineer, you'll be responsible for overseeing PowerNet's IT systems, networks, servers, applications, and virtual environments while providing expert technical advice and support across the business.

Working closely with our IT team, Cyber Security Engineer, Operational Technology team, vendors, and stakeholders, you'll lead the resolution of complex technical issues, contribute to strategic projects, and help shape the future of our technology environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and maintaining Active Directory / Microsoft Entra environments
  • Administration of servers, virtualisation platforms, storage, and network infrastructure
  • Providing Tier 3 technical support and escalation expertise
  • Leading and contributing to ICT projects and system improvements
  • Supporting and mentoring IT Service Technicians
  • Working collaboratively to enhance system performance, reliability, and security
  • Developing and maintaining technical documentation and standards
  • Participating in the after-hours standby roster

What You'll Bring

We're looking for someone who combines strong technical capability with a customer-focused, collaborative approach.

You'll ideally have:

  • A tertiary IT qualification and/or relevant industry certifications
  • At least 5 years' experience in a systems engineering, infrastructure, or technology solutions environment
  • Strong experience across Microsoft technologies, server administration, networking, virtualisation, and systems support
  • Experience with Linux and Kubernetes environments
  • Sound troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience delivering IT projects and driving continuous improvement
  • The ability to communicate complex technical concepts in a clear and practical way
  • A passion for mentoring others and sharing knowledge
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset and a great sense of humour
