Risk and Assurance IT Audit Specialist

Fixed-term for nine months

Powerco Limited is the second-largest gas and electricity distribution company in New Zealand with total revenue over $490 million and $2.7 billion of total assets. We distribute electricity and gas to meet the energy needs of around 452,000 homes, businesses and organisations in the North Island.

Reporting to the Risk and Assurance Manager, the primary purpose of this role is to provide IT assurance and audit support while helping us to deliver the business assurance programme. Specifically, this role assists with the facilitation of improvements towards the integrity, efficiency and effectiveness of Powerco’s electronic data processing systems with the sustainability of related controls in mind.

The key aspects of the role where you can make your mark are as follows:

  • Working on complex assignments and provide guidance and coaching to others on the team.
  • Applying theoretical knowledge to achieve practical outcomes.
  • Acting as an integral part of internal auditing assignments, with the focus on technical reviews of operating and application systems and IS management protocols that support business solutions.
  • Providing structured analysis of business systems, processes and procedures to support audit programs and reporting.
  • Assisting with troubleshooting and providing cause analysis - ad hoc and during audit assignments

The ideal candidate will hold a relevant tertiary qualification with approximately three years plus experience in computing and information security in a SAP/ERP environment. In addition, the ideal person will be a team player who enjoys adding value through process and systems improvement, is analytical and has close attention to detail along with the ability to see the big picture. Good communication skills (oral and written), including proficiency in group facilitation and interviewing, are also very important to us.
