Asset Engineer: Secondary Assets

New Plymouth, Tauranga, Palmerston North or Whanganui

Right now, we're after an Asset Engineer to take responsibility for our secondary systems network assets, as part of the Asset Fleet Management team. The team has responsibility for managing our fleets of electricity network assets.

You will be jointly responsible for the strategic direction and lifecycle management of Powerco’s secondary systems assets fleet, ensuring that the fleet as a whole and the individual assets perform in accordance with Powerco’s requirements over their full expected lives. This fleet includes all electrical protection assets, SCADA assets, remote terminal units, dc charging and LV battery installations, and metering installations. You will also coordinate defining the long-term strategy for Powerco’s secondary systems assets in the future.

Your extensive experience in the electricity distribution industry or in a similar asset management role will put you in good stead to hit the ground running. You'll likely have a degree in electrical engineering under your belt. You'll also have a keen eye for the details and will be no stranger to presenting a report or two, or leading field investigations alongside our service providers.

Please see the position description for full details, roles and responsibilities of this role

Our investment in you

  • Loads of flexibility. We embrace hybrid working so if you’d like to work a few days a week from home (or the beach) – that’s fine by us
  • All the usual stuff, but way better – 4% KiwiSaver, ability to buy extra leave, paid volunteer days, great parental leave entitlements, free life and medical insurance – I know, right?!
  • Excellent opportunities for professional growth, including an annual programme for technical and personal development
  • Working with an amazing, supportive, and fun team – even if we do say so ourselves…

Applications close: Friday 5 August 2022

Our ability to get the best out of people is what sets Powerco apart. We realise that candidates – especially from underrepresented and neurodiverse backgrounds – often won’t apply for roles unless they meet ALL the criteria. We encourage anyone who shares our passion for connecting communities to apply for any role that aligns to your strengths and interests. We will provide a safe space where you can bring your whole self to work and thrive.
