Contracts & Field Services Manager

Wellington

Looking for the opportunity to demonstrate and develop strong leadership and relationship capabilities? A background in network utilities or gas industry could give you a head start to build the next stage of your career.

About the role

We are looking for an inspirational and motivating Field Services Manager. A key operational role, you will be required to manage the delivery of routine field services across Powerco’s gas networks, including construction, maintenance, and fault response.

Your Team of Field Services Coordinators will support you to establish strong relationships with our Service Provision partners, set clear expectations, and safely deliver quality operations services.

Expertise and experience with measure and value and/or service contracts is important, as is experience with territorial and local authority requirements and frameworks BUT not as important as establishing and maintaining positive relationships with Service Providers and Authorities.

You will also be responsible for:

  • Leadership and Management of Field Services Team
  • Contract Manager – Powerco Gas Field Services Agreement
  • Network connections and extensions
  • Fault response and repair
  • Routine inspection and maintenance
  • Preventive and protection maintenance
  • Safety and quality of field services

The ideal candidate

A strong technical background will support a persistent focus on outcomes. The outcomes you value are those that deliver shared success. Whilst you are a manager of people and contracts, you will be seen more as a coach and mentor, someone who takes pride in seeing those who report to you being successful and feeling valued.

You will be pragmatic and have a talent for balancing competing priorities, achieving outcomes with a consensus of support, whilst also reinforcing the things that cannot be compromised. This pragmatic approach supports a strategic outlook, recognizing that focus on bigger objectives can require compromise of work in hand.

If you are people and relationships first, technical and process second – This role could be for you.

Skills & Experience

  • BE, NZCE (Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, Gas) or similar tertiary qualification
  • Industry recognised Project Management diploma or certificate
  • Project and/or Contract management experience
  • Technical knowledge of utility networks
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the gas industry or similar utility sector
