Network Controller

New Plymouth

We have a vacancy for an Operator in our Network Operation Centre Control Room.

You will be part of the team who are responsible for the real-time operation of Powerco’s High Voltage electricity distribution networks (on a 24/7 shift basis).

This involves the day-to-day coordination and monitoring of field activities in response to planned network outages, fault restoration and emergencies.

Key responsibilities include the safety of people, protection of plant, the electricity network reliability and operational communication.

This role will suit a team player who likes to take ownership of their work. If you enjoy working in a varied and diverse environment and are interested in continuing to develop your knowledge please apply today.

To successfully fill the role you will need:

  • A level 5 Electrical Registration, a background in Electricity Distribution Network operating would be desirable
  • To be a committed team player
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to make sound decisions during demanding situations
  • The ability to work in a technical position using various complex software applications.

 And have knowledge of:

  • High voltage isolation and access procedures and network operating practices
  • Risk management concepts
  • Electricity Network Health and Safety requirements.
  • Electrical Protection Systems
