HR/OD Specialist

Fixed-term for approximately 10 months

New Plymouth, Wellington or Palmerston North

Powerco’s Human Resources team has a powerful impact on our workplace by creating and delivering a great employee experience to all of our Powerco people. It starts with an unrelenting focus on getting our culture right – one that is fun, caring, with opportunities to learn and grow, and a keenness to celebrate the diversity and uniqueness in all of us. The team has listeners, thinkers, analysts, creators and doers that all pitch in to get the job done.

If you pass the team-fit test with flying colours, let's talk about the role. We are seeking a talented business partner, senior advisor or HR specialist who brings a mix of organisational development experience and operational HR skills to the table.

You’ll be as comfortable working a room of senior managers as you are having a meaningful one-on-one with someone stuck in a rut. You won’t shy from giving people the tough messages, and quickly move them from defensive to being motivated to change. You’ll be confident to shape your message for our most senior leaders, and they will be confident in you. Of course, you’ll pass the “on the bus” test and work within Powerco’s Values, Code of Business Conduct, policies and standards which collectively define the base-line behaviours required of us all.

If we could manufacture our perfect HR/OD chatbot, you'd know how to make friends and influence people, challenge our managers to think broadly, deeply and do a little research first, be a gun facilitator and communicator, learn quickly, be regularly sought out for your opinion and insights, and an accredited Zenger Folkman 360 coach. That said, we're pretty flexible on adjusting the role scope to fit a great candidate - location, full-time, part-time, areas of focus - just try us out.

There are some areas where we won't compromise. We don't want someone who revels in transactional work, uses HR jargon (think: creating synergies, rightsizing), or who is muddling through their career. We need a budding or established HR rock star, a straight talker, with a laser-like focus on our business plan deliverables.

If this sounds like you, let's talk.
