About the role
The purpose of the GIS-Asset Data Technician role is to keep our electricity asset information accurate and up to date in our business data systems.
We’re looking for a team player who brings a positive can-do attitude to help keep our systems up to standard with accurate and available information. This is how we contribute to keeping our customers, our communities, and our people safe. We are offering a role at our New Plymouth or Tauranga office.
In this role, you will get to:
Master our systems: GIS and SAP will be your bread and butter – you’ll be responsible for updating, maintaining and analysing geospatial asset information in our business data systems to support business operations, planning, engineering, asset management, and decision-making processes.
- Build relationships: Work with your team, the wider electricity teams and our teams in the field completing the work to help improve our team functions and the flow of information.

Skills & Experience
We’re looking for a superstar. Someone who understands the importance of information upkeep and the role it plays in keeping our customers safe. A person that can look at a document and see more than just lines on a page – you see the story and you see how our part fits into the bigger picture of keeping the lights on for our customers.
We’re after a team player that can get stuck into our team’s work, even if it gets quite repetitive. If you can create relationships with people from all walks of life – team members, contractors, business partners, we want to hear from you. We’re after someone who is keen to utilise their research and skills, loves to get stuck into work, and wants to be an asset to the Asset Information team!
The ideal candidate experience and skills:
- Proficiency in ArcGIS software such as ArcMap
- Creating and editing spatial data (points, lines and polygons)
- Managing and updating GIS databases and shapefiles
· Experience using SAP Enterprise Asset Management to manage asset information
- Strong communication, and problem-solving skills.
- A high level of initiative, professionalism, confidentiality, and tact
- Strong attention to detail and high accuracy in your work
- Electricity industry knowledge
- Understanding of data fundamentals
