Systems Support Technician

New Plymouth

We are looking for a self-motivated technician who has the knowledge and ability to support Powerco’s SCADA (computerised telemetry and graphical operator interface systems).

This role includes the updating of the graphical operator console displays and database configuration of new and existing network field telemetered equipment, and allocation and documentation of network asset numbers for new field equipment.

In this role you could find yourself assisting a control room operator or supporting our outage and customer services team. As well as being our resident SCADA expert you can expect a full range of duties across a modern operating center.

Full training will be provided, but knowledge of the Electricity distribution industry, computer systems / networks and Microsoft applications would be an advantage.

The ideal person for this role will have:

  • Knowledge and experience in SCADA system hardware installations, software programming, configuration and Human Machine Interface functions
  • Knowledge and experience in computer systems
  • An understanding of SCADA communication including radio, Wide Area Network and Local Area Network systems
  • Understanding of Health & Safety requirements and legal compliance
  • Experience in computer aided drawing packages (preferably AutoCAD)
