Power Systems Modelling & Analytics Engineer

📍 Tauranga

🕐 Permanent - Full-time

Join our Power Systems modelling team to play a pivotal role in developing future ready networks and enabling Distributed System Operator (DSO) capabilities.

About the role

Due to rapid growth on our network, we are looking for a Power Systems Modelling & Analytics Engineer to join our Network Development team based in Tauranga.

This is an opportunity to apply your expertise in network modelling and power systems to help us navigate challenges like increased CER (Customer Energy Resources), mixed energy systems and automation to create a resilient data-driven energy infrastructure. We currently use a mixture of simulation software based in a common network model such as PandaPower, PSSE Sincal and ADMS to simulate our network. These tools and models ensure enhanced accuracy and usability of network models utilising datasets and working collaboratively with teams, such as our Network Development, Assets & OT teams to design solutions tools to help them optimise use of our network.

About you

You’re likely to have a solid background coding or scripting to develop models, with a bonus if you have training in electrical engineering or hands on experience with power systems simulation tools and a passion for innovation with future focused solutions. Working closely with data and digital systems which form our foundation for advanced power systems modelling.

Skills & Experience

It’s not the be all and end all, but we’d be stoked if you have:

  • a BE or NZCE qualification in related electrical engineering area
  • relevant experience in a network planning / network studies or similar role
  • excellent communication skills
  • analytical modelling skills
  • risk management and decision-making skills

Our investment in you:

  • Hybrid working that gives you the flexibility to shape your week around what helps you do your best work
  • Awesome benefits including 4% KiwiSaver, ability to purchase extra leave, paid volunteer days, great parental leave, and fully funded life and medical insurance
