People & Culture Business Partner

📍 New Plymouth

🕐 Permanent – Full-time or part-time

We’re on the lookout for a People & Culture Business Partner who’s confident stepping into the full reality of HR - the good, the complex, and the occasionally uncomfortable. You’ll bring attention to detail, solid judgement, and the ability to work through people challenges with a calm, practical approach. You’ll be partnering closely with our Customer and Corporate Services teams, supported by an awesome People & Culture crew who are collaborative, up for a laugh, and always ready to jump in and get the mahi done!

Supporting our Customer and Corporate teams mean travel to our Wellington & Tauranga offices will be necessary – think once or twice every two months. If you like working closely with leaders and you’re comfortable offering a different view when it’s needed, this role will feel like a great fit. You’ll help shape real outcomes, guide people through change, and be part of a team that appreciates the big wins just as much as the imperfect, work-in-progress moments.

The difference you’ll make:

  • Coach our leaders and support their people navigate our People policies and procedures
  • Partner with leaders to recruit the best people for our teams
  • Create agreements and onboarding using our people systems
  • Lead ER processes under the advice and support of senior members of the team
  • Work with teams to build psychologically safe and rewarding environments
  • Contribute positively to the culture and kaupapa of our team and the wider business

It’s not the be all and end all, but we'd love to hear from you if you have:

  • Worked in a People Advisory role before so you’re ready to hit the ground running;
  • Understanding (and experience) of NZ employment legislation; and
  • A passion for building great relationships and bringing plans to life.

Our investment in you:

  • All the usual stuff, but way better – 4% Kiwi Saver, ability to buy extra leave, paid volunteer days, free Life and Medical Insurance
  • We take a hands-on based approach to team building and development, so lots of opportunity to learn and become accredited in various tools and frameworks.
  • Working with a talented, supportive, and fun team - even if we do say so ourselves… and we’ve said it three times in this ad!

Bring your perspective, roll up your sleeves, come and contribute positively to the culture and kaupapa of our team and the wider business. Let’s make it happen!

Applications close: Friday 16 January 2026

Our ability to get the best out of people is what sets Powerco apart. We realise that candidates – especially from underrepresented and neurodiverse backgrounds – often won’t apply for roles unless they meet ALL the criteria. We encourage anyone who shares our passion for connecting communities to apply for any role that aligns to your strengths and interests. We will provide a safe space where you can bring your whole self to work and thrive.

If you would benefit from support or adjustments in order to participate equitably in the recruitment process, please phone 0800 769372 or email kiaora@powerco.co.nz
