Network Coordinator

Permanent Full-time. 24/7 shift work

New Plymouth

Due to growing demands on our network, we have committed to growing our Network Operations Centre team, the hub of our operations. This is where it all happens!!      

You will be part of a focused, friendly, and supportive team who are responsible for the real-time operation of Powerco’s High Voltage electricity distribution networks (on a 24/7 shift basis). 

This role involves managing access to our electrical distribution network in response to planned network outages, fault restoration and emergencies.

Key responsibilities include the safe management of our real time operational network, investigating network performance issues and analysing outages, faults, and other network issues.  The future of our network will rely on technology, smart processes, and sophisticated data to aid in operations and keeping the lights on.

We are looking for a team player with strengths in problem solving, prevention, detail and personal responsibility who is comfortable in an environment which is diverse and at times ambiguous. If you like an environment which provides variety and are comfortable with trouble shooting and problem solving, then this could be for you.     

This role is all about high performance within a team environment, working with internal and external stakeholders to maintain positive and professional relationships. Extensive training and onboarding is provided to set individuals up to be successful. As part of your onboarding, you will learn more about:

  • High voltage isolation and access procedures and network operating practices
  • Risk management concepts
  • Electricity Network Health and Safety requirements.
  • Electrical Protection Systems

Our ideal candidate may have the following experience:

  • Demonstrable experience in a process orientated role or technology environment
  • A technology or electrical qualification, ideally a level 5 Electrical Registration OR a background in Electricity Distribution Network operating would be desirable
  • Commitment to high performance and a genuine desire to contribute to a collaborative team environment
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during demanding situations
  • The ability to work in a technical position using various IT / software applications.
