Network Coordination Manager

New Plymouth

Reporting to the Network Operations Manager, this role is responsible for managing the Network Coordination Team which manages the real-time operation and access to Powerco’s HV and LV electricity and gas distribution networks (on a 24 / 7 shift basis).

Key components of the Network Coordination Manager role include:

  • Providing effective support and encouragement to team members, and build and foster a positive team environment
  • Lead the network coordination team through change management processes
  • Ensuring the day to day application of (and adherence to) Powerco’s network operating policies and procedures
  • Coordination and preparation of planned responses to network incidents
  • Coordinating the Network Coordination team in the event of major emergencies
  • Regular liaison with key network stakeholders including Transpower, major contractors and other service providers
  • Identifying and implementing improvements to network operating policy, procedures and systems

To successfully fill this role you will need:

  • BE, NZCE or equivalent
  • Sound knowledge of electrical substations and high voltage electricity networks
  • Sound understanding of isolation and access procedures and operating practices
  • An understanding of gas and electricity fault response processes
  • Knowledge of Protection Systems, SCADA and communication systems
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong real-time analytical and problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of risk management concepts
  • A high degree of computer literacy
