About the role

Are you great at building relationships, integrating processes, and knowing how to deliver meaningful change? 

Powerco has a long-standing Environmental Management System that is ISO14001 certified. We are looking for an environmental specialist with resilient and skillful interpersonal skills, that has experience in integrating systems and processes.

As Aotearoa’s second largest electricity and gas distributor, Powerco keeps the lights on and gas flowing to more than a million customers across Te Ika-a-Maui.

This role will work with our business to manage and fully embed Powerco’s Environmental Systems, and to develop and implement environmentally sustainable improvement, through highly effective internal and external partnerships.

Reporting to the Head of Environment, you’ll be responsible for the management, technical accuracy, and business engagement of Powerco’s Environmental Management System and associated audit compliance. You’ll work closely with internal and external stakeholders to manage Powerco’s progress on our net zero and science aligned emission reduction targets.

Skills & Experience

  • Strong background in managing / embedding change or integrating systems
  • A background or experience with managing environmental systems, resource management, environmental planning, or risk/project management
  • Proven track record of proactively and constructively building and maintaining effective internal and external relationships
  • Experience in environmental risk management including developing and implementing internal polices, and ISO 14001 would be an advantage
  • Knowledge and/or experience of network utilities
