Are you at the start of your career and looking for an exciting opportunity to learn how to design overhead and underground electricity networks? Do you have an interest in electrical infrastructure and want to contribute to building safe and reliable power systems for our communities?

We’re offering an Entry Level Electrical Designer role that gives you hands-on learning across overhead and underground design and helps develop the technical skills to grow your career in the electricity distribution industry.

About the role

We’re after someone who’s eager to learn and take the first step into a technical design role. Whether you’ve recently graduated or are looking to shift into the energy sector, this is a chance to be part of a dynamic and supportive design team. You’ll have access to modern technology, work on real projects, and follow a structured development plan to build your skills and confidence.

If you’re curious, analytical, detail-focused, and enjoy a mix of office and field work, this could be the opportunity you’ve been looking for.

Key deliverables include:

  • Assist with the preparation of detailed overhead and underground design drawings and documentation.
  • Support the capture of field data to inform safe, efficient, and cost-effective design outcomes.
  • Learn and use design software and systems such as AutoCAD and GIS.
  • Help ensure safety in design principles are embedded into all work.
  • Work closely with engineers, designers, contractors, and local authorities.
  • Contribute to a positive team environment and support the delivery of high-quality outcomes.

It is preferable that candidates have:

  • A relevant qualification or are working towards one (e.g., electrical engineering, civil engineering, drafting).
  • Basic understanding of, or interest in, electricity network design principles.
  • Good computer skills and the ability to learn technical software (training provided).
  • A strong attention to detail and willingness to follow structured processes.
  • An interest in developing knowledge of design standards (e.g., AS/NZS 7000).
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • A positive attitude and strong appetite to learn.
