Commissioning Engineer

The Commissioning Engineer is a newly created role that will help provide and review specialist commissioning plans, oversee commissioning activities and ensure that a high standard of project implementation is maintained.
A secondary part of the role will be to assist with standards and advice on the development, maintenance, and operation of Powerco’s electrical protection and control implementation. If you have a good practical, pragmatic, personality and enjoy problem solving, this role in our Protection and Control Team may be for you.
Key responsibilities include:
- Involvement of commissioning activities on projects
- Investigation and analysis of protection related faults and protection operation;
- Developing Powerco’s electricity network protection policies and standards;
- Preparing development and renewal plans for Powerco’s protection and control systems;
- Designing protection schemes to enhance and develop the network; and;
- Providing technical support to other Powerco teams in managing protection and control systems projects.
It is preferable that candidates have:
- Proficient experience with load flows, short circuits and relay coordination calculations;
- Experience in electricity protection systems design and analysis;
- Experience in electricity protection primary and secondary testing; and
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
