Systems Support Technician

Location: New Plymouth

Are you a self-motivated technician with a passion for technology and problem-solving? Join Powerco as a Systems Support Technician and play a key role in supporting our SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems and the future development of our ADMS (Advanced Distribution Management System) functionality.

About the role:

You’ll be responsible for:

• Updating graphical operator console displays
• Configuring databases for new and existing telemetered field equipment
• Allocating and documenting network asset numbers for new field devices

You’ll work closely with our control room operators and support teams across outages, customer service, and system operations. While full training is provided, this is a fantastic opportunity to grow into a specialist role at the heart of a modern operational centre.

We’re looking for someone with:

• Experience in SCADA hardware installation, software programming, configuration, and Human Machine Interface functions
• Knowledge of computer systems, ideally including GIS (Geospatial Information Systems)
• Familiarity with SCADA communication mediums and protocols such as radio, fibre, Ethernet/IP, and DNP3
• Experience with computer-aided drawing tools, preferably AutoCAD
• Knowledge of the electricity distribution industry and Microsoft applications would be an advantage
