The Opportunity:

As a Roads Engineer at pitt&sherry, you’ll play a key role in the design and delivery of road and civil infrastructure projects across New South Wales. Working as part of our growing Sydney Transport and Infrastructure team, you’ll contribute to a diverse mix of projects for Transport for New South Wales (TfNSW), local councils, government agencies, energy and renewable clients, utilities and private sector clients. 

Your work will span concept and feasibility through to detailed design, tender documentation and construction phase support. You might be leading the geometric design of a State road (TfNSW), local road upgrade, supporting access road designs for renewable energy projects, preparing design reports and drawings, or working with clients and stakeholders to resolve technical challenges and keep projects moving.

You’ll have the chance to take ownership of meaningful projects, work closely with experienced engineers and project leaders, and help build capability within a growing team. 

What you'll do:

• Lead the design and delivery of road and civil infrastructure projects across NSW 
• Prepare concept, preliminary and detailed designs for State roads, local road upgrades, arterial roads, access roads, intersections and related civil works 
• Develop design documentation including drawings, reports, technical memoranda, specifications and tender inputs 
• Apply relevant standards and guidance including Austroads, Australian Standards, TfNSW requirements and local council design principles 
• Undertake or supervise geometric design, pavement design, drainage, hydrology and earthworks inputs 
• Liaise with clients, councils, contractors, sub-consultants and internal project teams to support successful project outcomes 
• Support proposals, fee submissions and technical inputs for new road, transport and infrastructure opportunities 
• Provide guidance, technical checking and mentoring to junior engineers and designers 
• Support construction phase activities including RFIs, shop drawing reviews, site inspections, certification and defect close-out 

What You Bring:

• 8 to 12 years’ experience in civil and road infrastructure design, preferably with exposure to projects in New South Wales. Experience working on TfNSW projects or an understanding of TfNSW requirements is desirable, but not essential. 
• A proven background delivering road design projects for State Authorities, local councils and/or energy, renewables, utilities or infrastructure clients. 
• Experience across access roads, pavement rehabilitation, urban streetscapes, intersection upgrades and broader road infrastructure projects. 
• Strong capability in 12d Model, OpenRoads or similar road and civil design software, 
• A strong working knowledge of Austroads Guides, relevant Australian Standards, NSW road design requirements and drainage principles. 
• Sound technical capability and understanding across geometric design, pavement design, drainage, hydrology and earthworks. 
• The ability to balance technical delivery, project priorities and quality requirements while working to agreed timeframes and budgets. 
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to work directly with clients, councils, contractors and internal teams.
