The Opportunity:

 We are looking for an experienced water resources engineer who can turn complex flooding and drainage challenges into clear, practical and resilient outcomes. You will lead flooding, hydrology and drainage projects as well as option assessment through modelling, design and delivery. The role has a strong Victorian focus, with opportunities to support and lead projects across Australia.

What you'll do:

• Project leadership: Scope, plan and lead projects while managing program, budget, risk, quality, change and client expectations.
• Hydrology and flood assessment: Develop fit-for-purpose approaches and oversee hydrologic and hydraulic modelling, flood mapping, sensitivity assessment and interpretation.
• Drainage design: Lead stormwater and drainage solutions for roads, rail, energy, resources, civic, water, industrial and other infrastructure projects.
• Practical outcomes: Guide the assessment and design of waterways, culverts, channels, stormwater networks, detention systems, water quality measures and erosion protection.
• Technical direction and review: Set clear technical approaches, review work and ensure advice and design outputs are robust, proportionate and constructible.
• Client relationships: Lead workshops and technical discussions, provide clear advice and develop trusted relationships with clients, authorities and delivery partners.
• Proposals and growth: Identify opportunities, shape scopes and fees, prepare proposals and contribute to repeat work and capability growth.
• Team development: Coordinate multidisciplinary inputs, mentor engineers and modellers, and share knowledge across offices and disciplines.

What You Bring:

• Relevant qualifications: A degree in civil, environmental or water engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Australian project experience: Demonstrated delivery of flooding, hydrology and/or drainage projects in Australia.
• Victorian knowledge: Understanding of Victorian authority expectations and experience with Victorian design, approvals or construction projects is highly regarded.
• Technical judgement: A sound understanding of hydrologic and hydraulic methods, drainage design principles and the limitations and appropriate use of modelling tools.
• Tools and adaptability: Experience with relevant hydrology, hydraulics, drainage or civil design software. We value engineering judgement and adaptability more than expertise in one package.
• Leadership capability: Confidence leading projects, guiding technical teams, coordinating interfaces and making well-reasoned decisions.
• Communication and commercial awareness: The ability to explain complex issues clearly, manage client expectations and understand scope, fee, risk and program.
• Professional standing: Chartered status and Victorian professional registration are highly regarded, or you will have a clear pathway to achieve them.
