About us:

pitt&sherry is an Australian employee-owned consultancy. Since 1963, we have been delivering engineering and environmental consulting, advisory and project management services. We thrive on tackling challenging projects that enable us to live up to our vision: inspired thinking to embrace the challenges of a changing world.

We are proud to be Australia's most agile thinkers: we are engineers, scientists, planners, technicians, project managers and consultants and coupled with our multi-disciplinary offering, we deliver solutions that make a true difference to people and place.  With seven offices throughout Australia, we are committed to remaining big enough to deliver and small enough to care

The Opportunity:

pitt&sherry is looking for a Structural Engineer to join our Melbourne team and become part of our national structural engineering team of over 50 engineers and technicians. This is an excellent opportunity for an early‑career engineer to build strong technical foundations while contributing to meaningful infrastructure and government projects.

Our Melbourne team specialises in temporary works supporting major infrastructure projects across Victoria. Experience in this area is advantageous but not essential.

What you'll do:

  • Support the design and delivery of structural engineering solutions across infrastructure, industrial and government projects
  • Apply engineering fundamentals under the guidance of experienced senior engineers
  • Collaborate with engineers and technicians across our national structural team, gaining exposure to a wide range of project types and expertise
  • Prepare calculations, models, drawings and technical documentation
  • Develop your technical, communication and project delivery skills through mentoring and hands‑on project involvement
  • Work within a flexible, supportive environment that encourages learning, growth and continuous improvement

What you bring:

  • Minimum 1.5+ years’ experience in structural engineering design
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals
  • Exposure to structural analysis software (SpaceGass preferred, others welcome)
  • Enthusiasm to learn, adapt and take on new challenges
  • Team‑focused, proactive and professional approach

Why join us:

  • Passionate Team: We're a friendly bunch who are passionate about our work. This role is a great opportunity for someone looking to join us as we launch into our 2030 strategy.
  • Flexible Working Practices: At pitt&sherry, we champion flexible working practices. Our team enjoys the best of both worlds, splitting their time between home and the office. We believe in genuine work/life balance and strive to create an environment where our employees can thrive both professionally and personally.
  • Paid Parental Leave: Enjoy paid parental leave with no waiting period and a Return to Work Bonus for when you’re ready to come back.
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP): Complimentary access to qualified psychologists and coaches to support your health and wellbeing.
  • Professional Development: We encourage ongoing learning and development. We are active members of Engineers Australia and Consult Australia.
  • Additional Leave: Purchased additional leave allowance as well as cultural and ceremonial leave with access to floating public holidays.
  • Competitive Remuneration: A market-competitive remuneration package.
  • Social Connections: Regular social and cultural celebrations to connect with your team.
  • Recognition and Growth: Work for an agile company where your contributions are recognised, and you can truly make a difference.
