The Opportunity: 

pitt&sherry is seeking a highly experienced Senior Principal Structural Engineer to join our Sydney team. This senior technical role sits within our national structural engineering team of over 50 engineers and technicians, providing the opportunity to influence technical direction, mentor future leaders and contribute to significant infrastructure and industrial projects across Australia. 

What you'll do:

  • Provide senior technical leadership to the Sydney structural team while actively collaborating with engineers and technicians across our 50+ strong national structural practice 
  • Act as a technical focal point on complex projects, applying deep expertise across a range of structural materials and project types 
  • Lead, review and endorse advanced designs, ensuring high technical standards, safety and practical outcomes 
  • Mentor and develop engineers at all levels, supporting capability growth across the broader structural team nationally 
  • Build and maintain trusted client relationships, including preparing fee proposals and tender documentation 
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams across Australia, leveraging our national footprint to deliver integrated engineering solutions 

What you bring: 

  • 25+ years’ experience in structural engineering design 
  • Chartered Professional Engineer (Engineers Australia) or equivalent 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or higher) 
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving capability 
  • Demonstrated leadership, mentoring and technical governance experience 
  • Excellent communication skills with clients and internal stakeholders
