The Opportunity: 

We are looking for an experienced Associate Civil Engineer/Project Manager  to play a key role in delivering complex transport and civil projects within our Melbourne team. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of significant project work, build strong client relationships and contribute to business development activities across the roads transport and civilc markets. 

Working collaboratively with the General Manager - Transport VIC and General Manager - Civic, you will help shape project approaches, support pursuit activities and strengthen our presence with transport and road authorities, councils and related clients. This opportunity suits someone with strong technical foundations who enjoys leading projects, mentoring others and is keen to continue growing their commercial capability. 

What you do:

  • Lead and deliver complex transport infrastructure and civil engineering projects, ensuring high technical quality, effective risk management and positive client outcomes  
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, supporting repeat work and long‑term partnerships  
  • Contribute to and lead business development activities, including pursuits, proposals and client engagement  
  • Provide guidance and oversight across projects, applying sound judgement and practical solutions to complex challenges  
  • Mentor and support engineers through project leadership, coaching and review  
  • Contribute to improving delivery practices, tools and ways of working within the team  
  • Work closely with the GM Transport VIC, GM Civic and broader leadership team to align project delivery and pursuits with business priorities 

What you bring: 

  • Extensive experience delivering and leading transport and civil infrastructure projects, recognised as a technical specialist or business development leader  
  • Strong commercial and business acumen, with experience managing bids, project risk, cost and performance 
  • Proven ability to win and own work, with established networks across the transport and civil infrastructure markets 
  • Demonstrated ability to lead project teams and mentor developing engineers 
  • Confident operating at both strategic and delivery levels 
  • A collaborative, self‑driven approach, with a strong sense of accountability and ownership
