About Us

pitt&sherry is an Australian employee-owned consultancy. Since 1963, we have been delivering engineering and environmental consulting, advisory and project management services. We thrive on tackling challenging projects that enable us to live up to our vision: inspired thinking to embrace the challenges of a changing world.

We are proud to be Australia's most agile thinkers: we are engineers, scientists, planners, technicians, project managers and consultants and coupled with our multi-disciplinary offering, we deliver solutions that make a true difference to people and place. With seven offices throughout Australia, we are committed to remaining big enough to deliver and small enough to care.

The Opportunity:

If you know how to win and deliver work in the Ports space and want the freedom to shape a market around you, this is a role where you can make your mark.

As Head of Ports, you’ll focus on growing our position in the national Ports, Maritime and Coastal sector, developing market plans, building relationships, identifying opportunities, converting them into meaningful work and supporting their delivery.

You’ll have the autonomy to shape your market, backed by a multidisciplinary team and a business that’s big enough to deliver and small enough for your impact to be felt.

What you will do:

  • Lead the development and execution of our national ports’ business plan
  • Lead market engagement within the ports industry, working collaboratively with our transport, capability and marketing leaders
  • Lead business development across Ports, Maritime and Coastal, identifying opportunities and converting them into secured work
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, playing a key role in our Key Client Program
  • Shape and drive proposals and pursuits, defining scope, methodology, risks and value proposition, including contract negotiation
  • Influence clients and stakeholders to position us as a trusted partner and advisor
  • Lead projects or key workstreams where required, ensuring strong client outcomes and commercial performance
  • Manage project and pursuit risks across technical, commercial and delivery aspects
  • Work closely with internal teams to align capability with market opportunities and client needs
  • Contribute to improving how we approach and win work across the business

What you bring:

  • Demonstrated experience in a senior role within the Ports & Maritime industry
  • Proven experience in executing growth plans that align with strategic objectives
  • A strong track record of winning work and developing client relationships in the Ports, Maritime or Coastal market
  • The ability to understand technical solutions and translate them into compelling client value
  • A background that could vary, you may be an engineer, project manager or have related experience but you’ll have a clear understanding of how projects are delivered
  • Experience shaping proposals, identifying opportunities and contributing to successful pursuits
  • Commercial awareness with an understanding of contract types, risk allocation, procurement models and commercial frameworks
  • Strong problem-solving skills and sound professional judgment
  • Confidence in client-facing environments, with the ability to influence and build trust
  • A proactive, outcomes-focused mindset with a drive to grow market presence and win work
