Physiotherapist - Advanced HP5 Your opportunity

We are seeking a senior physiotherapist to cover a fixed term contract for a hospital in far north QLD

Provide advanced level of clinical expertise and leadership in Physiotherapy and contribute to the professional development of physiotherapy colleagues regarding the assessment and management of patients across the rural Hospital and Health Service.

This position is based within the Allied Health Service at the Hospital a 40 bed facility, with HDU, Maternity and general wards, day surgery dialysis and chemotherapy services. The team is operationally line managed by the Team Leader Allied Health and reports professionally to the Director of Physiotherapy. Support and supervision are provided by Physiotherapists within the health service as required and professionally recommended.

Clinical Practice

  • Deliver advanced level Rural Generalist Physiotherapy clinical and consultancy services across the broad spectrum of presentations to the Hospital wards, Emergency Department and Physiotherapy outpatient service including musculoskeletal, cardio-respiratory, neurological, orthopaedics, paediatrics, geriatrics and women’s health.
  • Demonstrate recognised expertise, knowledge and skills obtained through professional development activities, post-graduate education or formal qualification(s) and a commitment to participation and provision of professional development and learning initiatives for the development of self and others.
  • Utilise high evidence based clinical knowledge in Physiotherapy assessment and patient management relevant to rural hospital practice and provide consultancy for other rural physiotherapy colleagues and stakeholders in the assessment and management of complex conditions.
  • Utilise and apply extensive evidence-based practice and professional judgement to a complex and broad Physiotherapy caseload to facilitate optimal and safe patient outcomes and facilitate patient flow, internal and external to the hospital.
  • Provide and support clinical practice and professional supervision, including competency training and skill development, for Physiotherapists across the rural facilities within the HHS, allied health assistants, students involved in undergraduate or observational clinical placements and work experience students.
