About the Role
As an Intermediate Accountant within the Business Services and Tax team, you will be responsible for:
- Preparing financial statements and income tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships and individuals
- Preparing BAS, GST and IAS returns
- Assisting with taxation and business services compliance across a diverse portfolio of SME clients
- Completing account reconciliations and supporting year-end compliance work
- Communicating with clients to obtain information and respond to routine accounting and taxation queries
- Using Xero, MYOB and other cloud-based accounting systems
- Working closely with senior accountants, managers and partners to deliver accurate and timely client outcomes
- Continuing to develop your technical knowledge through practical experience, guidance and ongoing training
About You
To be considered for this opportunity, you will ideally have:
- At least two years’ Australian public practice accounting experience
- Experience preparing financial statements and income tax returns for a range of entity structures
- A working knowledge of Australian taxation and business services compliance
- Experience using Xero, MYOB or similar accounting platforms
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Good attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines
- A willingness to learn, accept feedback and continue developing professionally
- Commenced, completed or intending to commence your CA or CPA qualification
- Full, unrestricted Australian working rights
This position requires previous experience in an Australian public practice accounting firm and is not suited to candidates whose experience is solely within commercial accounting or gained overseas.
