Work TypeFull time

Published At:a day ago
Job no: 98YPT
  • Technically complex, high-profile project with real impact on critical regional infrastructure
  • 50+ year industry leader - fresh off winning the 2025 NECA Perpetual Award nationally
  • Permanent role with a team that sets the standard in electrical and instrumentation delivery

The Project

Deep in the Snowy Mountains, the Cabramurra Township is undergoing a major electrical infrastructure transformation and you'll be the engineer leading it from Brisbane.

This isn't a desk job pushing paper. You'll be at the technical heart of a high-complexity HV/LV upgrade involving underground cabling, advanced substation technology, and critical infrastructure that regional and industrial communities depend on. You'll coordinate directly with on-site teams, drive design decisions, and see your engineering fingerprint on something genuinely significant.

If you want a project you'll still be talking about in ten years; this is it.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Specifying and procuring HV/LV substations — RMUs, transformers, switchboards, kiosk enclosures
  • Designing HV and LV cable routes including conduits, pits, submains, and distribution pillars
  • Leading protection grading and arc flash studies using ETAP
  • Driving earthing design via SafeGrid analysis
  • Coordinating civil pad design alongside electrical requirements
  • Managing connection agreements and associated studies with the Service Provider
  • Liaising with surveyors, contractors, and stakeholders to keep delivery on track

What We're Looking For

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering (or trade-qualified with strong infrastructure project experience)
  • Proven hands-on experience in HV/LV distribution, substations, and electrical infrastructure delivery
  • Proficiency in ETAP, SafeGrid, and AutoCAD
  • Strong grounding in protection systems, fault studies, and earthing design
  • A natural collaborator — someone who can lead technical conversations and bring stakeholders with them
  • PSSE/PSCAD experience is a genuine advantage

Why PHE?

PHE has been delivering end-to-end electrical and instrumentation projects for over 50 years across mining, industrial, and energy sectors. We're not a company chasing growth at the expense of quality — we're a company that wins awards because our people genuinely care about doing the work right.

At the 2025 NECA Excellence Awards, we took home:

  • National Industrial X-Large Project ($20M+) — Carrapateena Underground Crusher 2.0
  • Perpetual Award — the judges' highest accolade across all categories
  • Leaders in Diversity (Business) — at both Queensland and National level

These aren't vanity awards. They reflect the calibre of the people here and the standard we hold ourselves to on every project.
