Based in our Fortitude Valley office, this role supports the delivery of electrical engineering design services across a range of projects throughout Queensland and interstate.
As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will work closely with the General Manager and Principal Engineer to deliver detailed electrical designs from concept through to construction-ready documentation. You will contribute to technically robust outcomes across multiple projects while maintaining strong standards of quality, safety, and compliance.
This role forms part of PHE’s growing Engineering division and supports projects across oil & gas, mining, hydropower generation, remote power generation, manufacturing, pulp & paper, and timber processing. Your work will contribute directly to the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of critical energy and industrial infrastructure.
In This Role, You Will
- Deliver detailed electrical designs across ELV, LV and MV systems.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant codes, standards, regulations, and internal procedures.
- Prepare electrical calculations, technical reports, and scopes of work.
- Design and draft low voltage switchboards and control panels.
- Design general lighting, power distribution, and ancillary electrical services.
- Integrate vendor and packaged equipment into coordinated electrical designs.
- Prepare and manage design documentation in line with project and client requirements.
- Raise and respond to RFIs in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Work within EPC and EPCM project delivery environments, understanding project and commercial drivers.
- Participate in site visits as required to support design development and project delivery.
- Support and collaborate with other engineers and disciplines across the business.
About You
We’re looking for an experienced and capable engineer who enjoys hands-on design work and contributing to high-quality project outcomes.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering eligible for Engineers Australia (Professional Engineer) membership.
- Working toward CPEng and RPEQ registration, or willingness to do so.
- Proven experience delivering ELV, LV and/or HV electrical designs from concept to completion.
- Minimum 3–5+ years’ experience in detailed electrical design.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Dialux, PowerCAD, or similar design tools.
- Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy while collaborating within a project team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A practical, solutions-focused approach to engineering design.
