A Medical Content Editor is responsible for editing written content for a variety of purposes, including websites, blogs, social media, marketing and educational materials, and more. They utilize their medical knowledge and editing skills to ensure content is medically accurate and easily understandable by the intended audience. Medical Content Editors currently work in the medical field or are retired from the medical field, specifically with expertise as physicians or nurse practitioners in the field of Obstetrics/Gynecology.
Job Duties: Review medical content to ensure it is accurate, clear, concise, and tailored to the target audience. Edit content for accuracy and understandability as needed. Conduct research on topics to gather relevant and accurate information as needed to ensure accuracy of content. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as communications and marketing to ensure content meets medical standards and brand objectives. Editor will be asked to share a brief bio and photo that can be posted online with reviewed articles, along with the line “Medically Reviewed by XX” with their name and credentials.
Skills and Qualifications: Medical expertise in the fields of Obstetrics and Gynecology is REQUIRED, specifically having served or currently serving as a physician or nurse practitioner in the field and with knowledge of current best practices and standards of care. Excellent writing and editing skills, with a strong command of grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Ability to conduct thorough research and gather information from various credible sources as needed to ensure accuracy and substantiation of medical content. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with team members and understand client or brand requirements. Attention to detail and proofreading skills to ensure accuracy and consistency in content. Time management skills to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
